C.S. Lewis Quote

This is so true, isn't it?

We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be. -- C.S. Lewis

Thank you to Danielle Bean, who has this pithy quote in her sidebar.

Quote from St. Francis de Sales

Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.
- St. Francis de Sales

Yesterday was his feast day and I read this last night after having my preschool class, so it really made sense to me. This shall become my motto, something to work toward with the little ones. It is always a struggle to try to find this balance, to be both firm and patient. It's easy to swing toward either over-indulgence or impatience. St. Francis de Sales, pray for us. Dear readers, pray for me.

A Quote

"Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things."
Henry Ward Beecher

Thank you to Sister Pat for the quote.

Oh, and not to worry. No new troubles going on in my life. The quote just spoke to me and I wanted to share it with you.

A Mother

By Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty

"The most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She neednot. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral - a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body.

"The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God's creative miracle to bring new saints to heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature. God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation...What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?"

Tidbit from St. Francis de Sales

"Since the goodness of God is so immense that one moment is enough to obtain and receive His grace, what assurance can we have, that he who was yesterday a sinner is not today a saint?"

St. Francis de Sales in his book Introduction to a Devout Life.
